Practice Health is inspired by the transformational journey of husband-and-wife doctor team, Daniel McGee and Nika Ferdowsi. After medical school, they found themselves wiped out by the rigors of training. Their days had been full of stress with poor diet, sleepless nights, and sedentary lifestyles. Their health suffered.
They decided to do something about it.
They improved their diet by focusing on whole food nutrition and began a practice of regular exercise and meditation. Daniel lost 30 lbs. Nika no longer felt anxious. And they both enjoyed their improved energy and mental clarity. They discovered the field of Integrative Medicine and completed an academic fellowship in Integrative Medicine from the University of Arizona. They also obtained advanced training in Clinical Nutrition and Functional Medicine from the University of Miami as well as the Institute for Functional Medicine.
They shared their story and what they had learned about the power of lifestyle changes with their patients, and their medical practice shifted from disease management to health promotion. Now, they enjoy a patient-centered medical model that focuses on practices that cultivate the body’s innate capacity for self-healing.
